Project : CREATE POWERPOINT PRESENTATIONS FOR SUBJECTS IN 4-1

Project Description :
The students of 2008 will be given the specific task of making power point presentations for all the 4-1 subjects : Computer Networks, Electronic Measurements and Instrumentation, Cellular and Mobile Communications, Optical Communication, Microcontroller and Applications and Digital Image Processing.
Purpose :
To expose the students of 2008 to an environment where focus in on delivering a finished product through team work. To help students realize their true potential by utilizing their individual skills towards realization of group goals – thereby helping them for future projects involving higher expectations in terms of skills and goals. This should be a learning and self-realisation experience.
Goals and Deliverables :
To complete the project within the stipulated time of ten days from the start of the project. Deliver a finished product in the form of a CD(s) that contains power point presentations for all 4-1 subjects. The product is said to be complete and acceptable ONLY when it meets the set quality standards by the client (the subject experts in the department)
Project member introductions and their roles
The project members are 2008 ECE Batch who will create an organization structure that is transparent to the client (faculty of ECE Department). Roles and responsibilities will be discussed during the meeting.
Project assumptions :
There is a wealth of information within the department and college library to provide all knowledge inputs required for taking up the project.
Students of 2008 Batch are capable of understanding the demands of any project and have the ability to overcome any gaps or roadblocks through appropriate strategies and team work.
The students of 2008 have the required zeal and self-motivation to excel in tasks assigned.
Project Plan :
Divide the project into tasks and sub-tasks and assign the required work to small teams that are managed through team work and management.
A Top-Down hierarchy planned is :
Project Manager à Subject Leaders à Unit Leadersà Batch Leadersà Content Developers.
There will be a Quality Control mechanism involving Quality Managers and Quality Supervisors. The department will depute faculty to supervise and help in day-to-day work. Senior faculty will provide help required with resources and clarifications.

Status Meetings :
Meetings only within the subject groups. There will be a Centralised Progress Chart which will be updated only by the subject managers as instructed by the Project Manager.
Other Communication Plans :
All instructions from the department will be placed on the http://ecesvit.blogspot.com.
Only the Subject Managers must consult the faculty after discussing with their team members.
Each Subject Manager must maintain a log book that will be inspected by the faculty supervisors. Attendance of team members must also be maintained. Please remember that the entire project work records will be audited after the project is completed.
Question and answer session : Will be there after the above topics are completed.
Summary :
The ECE Department wants its students to focus on self-realisation and improve skills that are essential in working with a team. These skills DO NOT come to us through reading books or listening to lectures. They come through serious desire to excel through real projects and real assessment of ones own self. This project is our first step towards team-building. More such projects at a much higher level will be taken up after studying the progress during this project.
